A Brief History of Denny & Dunipace
5 May1329 - The body of Robert the Bruce is rested at Dunipace on its way to Dunfermline for burial.
1601 - The Parish of Denny is created. Previously the settlement had been part of the Parish of Falkirk.
19th Century - Denny begins to develop as an industrial centre.
1825 - Denny and Dunipace are linked by a bridge over the Carron
1877 - Denny and Dunipace are joined as a single burgh.
1923 - Former Scotland manager Bobby Brown is born in Denny
1937 - The Town Hall in Glasgow Road burns down.
1960s - Much of the centre of Denny is demolished and replaced with today's more modern
homes and shops.
2010 - The Scottish Government approves the Beauly-Denny transmission line.
2010 - s1denny.com is launched to let residents discuss local issues, place small ads, air their opinions, advertise events and show off pictures and video.
Well, that's the basics - now it's your turn.
That's the briefest of brief summaries and it's full of gaps. But this is where you come in. There's lots of interest in local history and lots of local knowledge out there - so why not share it here?
