Volunteers sought for third annual Herbertshire Highland Games
10 AugustThe organisers of Herbertshire Highland Games are looking for volunteers and sponsorship ahead of this year's event in September.
The annual event for young people returns for a third time at on Saturday September 18, kicking off at 11.45am with a parade through Denny to the games site at Dunpace Primary School, where the action gets underway from 12.30pm
Team events include 60 metres, 200 metres, shot putt, and javelin throwing, while there's also an open category consisting of a caber toss, tug of war, welly throwing, and a bike race
There will also be music and entertainment from the Denny and Dunipace Pipe Band, the Janet Snape Dancers and the ATC.
The planning committee are encouraging as many local children to participate as possible, but still need more help from adult volunteers to ensure the event is as big, colourful, and enjoyable as possible.
Stewards for the parade and games are particularly sought, along with event and parking supervisors. There are also roles for volunteers willing to record scores and times, help with moving equipment and setting up stalls, and lifting litter and helping to clean up the site.
Fundraisers, sponsors and stall holders are also welcome.
